GREEN STREETS
I always knew serenity was
Measured by the shades of green
On roads at almost blue dawn in summer.
I searched for the perfect quiet town
With stone paths that were muted in soft
Watercolors at dusk and when the
Streetlights were lit they always
Showed the way home.
The perfect spot became cool in fall
And was washed in white when winter
Months arrived to let those on the street
Know that special days would soon be celebrated.
There had to be a main street with small stores
And a quaint movie theater that showed films
That children would later remember as adults.
And the insides of the homes were quiet and peaceful
And filled with what was right for everybody.
So… I found that place.
There are railroad tracks to take you away
And the same tracks are there to bring you back...
But nobody goes anywhere.
And those passing by can almost smell
Paradise: a heady mix of
Romance with magic in the air.
